Tammy Jean Culver | Obituaries


Tammy Jean Culver, 58, of Batavia passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2022, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Batavia, N.Y., on Aug. 18, 1964, to the late Herbert Scroger and the late Gloria (Kinne) Cardinali. She graduated Oakfield Alabama Central School in 1983 and graduated from Continental Beauty School as a Cosmetologist. After marrying David Culver on Oct. 10, 1987, she opened up of own shop, Tammy’s Beauty Shop in South Alabama for 29 years and retired in 2016 after moving to Batavia.

Tammy is survived by her loving husband David Culver; 2 daughters, Ashley (Josh) Dyrbala of Oakfield and Erica (Jessie Buchanan) Culver of Brockport. She will be deeply missed by her 2 granddaughters who affectionately called her Mimi, Chloe Lynn and Hailey Grace Dyrbala. She is also survived by a sister, Tina (Bob) Kehlenbeck of Oakfield; and a brother, Herbie (Pudgie) Scroger of East Bethany; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by her loving dog, Maci Mae.

Besides being predeceased by her parents, she has lost her sisters, Peggy McBride, Toni Scott, Kim Knauss; a niece, Tracy Sumeriski; and nephew, Chris Blake, Jr.

Tammy had an amazing sense of humor and made everyone around her feel welcome. She loved the sun and especially enjoyed her year-round tan. She really loved her yearly vacations with her family especially the beaches around the US. She loved her flowers and enjoyed decorating her home for the seasons. She loved being around family and friends and her summer end parties and card games. Her most cherished memories are the time she spent with Chloe and Hailey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Golisano Children’s Hospital or James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at URMC, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday 11 a.m. with the Rev. Erik Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Alabama Cemetery.
