BATAVIA — The Genesee County STOP-DWI Advisory Board will conduct its sixth annual STOP-DWI Awards Luncheon on Dec. 5 at Terry Hills Restaurant & Banquet Facility.
Seven young people from Genesee County schools will be honored for their commitment to the community for entering the Board’s STOP-DWI Poster Contest.
The awards will include first to third place in the sixth- to eighth-grade and computer generated art categories. A grand prize winner will also be recognized, along with three “Top Cop” awards.
Winners in the sixth- to eighth grade category include Elliott Dayton, Abbigale Russell and Alyssa Adair. The computer generated art winners are Anna Holt, Sydney Konieczny and Kaelee Kelso.
Senior Zoey Shepard of Byron-Bergen Central School is the grand prize winner. Shepard’s artwork will appear in November and December on a billboard in the county.
Batavia Police Officer John Gombos, Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputy David Moore and Village of Le Roy Police Department Officer Jordan Wolcott are receiving the “Top Cop” for going above and beyond with DWI arrests during a one-year time period. They are also being honored for their dedication to community safety.
Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. The program and luncheon will begin at noon.
