NORTH CHILI — Both the Batavia boys and girls swept past their competition Wednesday at Black Creek Park.
The Batavia boys defeated Greece Arcadia, Greece Athena, and divisional opponent Eastridge in the last league meet of the season.
The Batavia boys finished the season 4-0 in the division and 11-2 overall in Monroe County winning their first divisional title since 2012.
Batavia senior Nathan Canale won the race in a time of 18:01.
Senior Noah Pickard placed fourth in 18:32 while classmate Dom Grillo was fifth in 18:48.
Also for the Blue Devils, senior Cody Harloff (18:59) and senior Gavin Fowler (19:00) placed seventh and eighth respectively.
The Batavia girls improved to 6-5 on the season as they defeated Greece Arcadia (15-50), Greece Athena (17-42) and Eastridge (15-44) in dominating fashion.
Batavia’s Campbell Riley placed first overall with a time of 23:19 while teammates Izzy Scott (23:20) and Mallory Boyce (23:28) were second and third respectively.
Also for Batavia, Melanie Quinones (23:40) was fifth and Maddy Bellamy (24:12) placed sixth.
The boys are coached by Rich Boyce.
“We have a group of nine seniors, many of whom have been in the program for six years,” coach Boyce said. “I am extremely proud of their hard work and determination over that time and their ability to persevere through the covid years. This group remained intact and unified in their desire to achieve this division title and I couldn’t be happier for them. Not only is this the first time in 10 years that we have earned the division title, we did so in a year when Mendon was moved down to our division by the powers that be. We were then faced with the daunting task of having to beat perennial power houses, Pittsford Mendon, Pittsford Sutherland, and HF-L in the same season to claim the division. This is the first time Batavia has ever achieved this in Monroe County competition.”
