BATAVIA, IL — This year for Day of Caring, Batavia United Way is hosting its annual leaf-raking event to help senior citizens, veterans and people with disabilities Nov. 6.
A team of volunteers will gather to rake leaves to the curb ahead of the city’s scheduled leaf pick-up day. Those interested in volunteering can visit the nonprofit organization’s website in mid-October to sign up.
The event will last for two hours, from 1-3 p.m. Volunteers are asking to bring rakes, gloves, tarps as well as “lots of energy.”
“This is a great activity for families or to do with friends,” organizers said.
If community members know of someone in need of the service, they are asked to call Batavia United Way at 630-877-2780 or email [email protected].
